Dear AILA Members & Friends,
On behalf of the AILA National Board and the 2021 NSW Organising Committee, I regret to inform you that as a result of the deteriorating COVID-19 situation, not only in NSW, but increasingly around Australia, we have decided to postpone the AILA National Conference from 20 - 22 October 2021 to 10 – 12 August 2022.
This has been a heart-breaking and difficult decision for AILA, but one which we believe is in the best interests of members and friends and in keeping with the long tradition of the event.
With Delta making it clear that no face to face involvement is likely to be possible this October in NSW, we came to the view that transitioning this particular event to an online only event was not optimal for our members and sponsors. Our National Conference is as much a high calibre educational event, as it is a major networking event and we did not want to have members miss the opportunity to re-connect in Sydney after such a long lockdown period and some increasing online “Zoom fatigue”. It will also increase the prospects of not only other state and territory participants but indeed also international speakers and visitors being able to join us hoping that most travel restrictions may be behind us.
While the fresh dates are earlier than usual, Sydney’s mild winters are conducive to mid-year conferences and we are pleased to have been able to secure the same high quality venues, namely Doltone House, Jones Bay Wharf, as the main conference and Welcome Reception venue and Luna Park as our showcase Conference Dinner venue.
Existing sponsors are being given fully flexible options to cancel or defer pending the release of our 2022 conference marketing. The Conference Design team will be in touch with registered delegates to arrange refunds of their registrations.
We will soon start to review and refresh all Conference Program content in preparation for our 2022 conference and again look to encourage the inclusion of international speakers.
We are very excited to have The 2022 AILA National Conference will deliver insights on current topical issues in the new Covid-19 affected world as well as insights into the future of Insurance and the Law in Australia.
We encourage you to check the website regularly for updates.
